Alcoves are a band. Their genre is driving with the windows down.

Alcoves are what you get when you rent a cabin off the coast of Vancouver Island and haul an Impreza’s worth of studio equipment inside. The Victoria-based duo, comprised of Garrett Olson and Robbie Townsend, formed in 2021 and has been quietly working away throughout studios across Western Canada.

Blending the raw edge of The Strokes with the cinematic introspection of Phoebe Bridgers and the pop sheen of The 1975, Alcoves create music that’s as emotionally charged as it is sonically expansive.
Their songs are rich with character-driven narratives and textured soundscapes, offering sharp commentary on growing up and falling apart in an age of overstimulation and existential dread. Each track is a window into a world that feels eerily familiar—aching, electric, and utterly alive.
Alcoves invites listeners to feel something deeper beneath the distortion. Whether it’s a coming-of-age anthem or a midnight monologue, their music hits with purpose—and sticks around long after the last note.

Call Liz, their latest release, is available now.
